Ross of Mull Poets (ROMP)

The group of 8 are keen to promote the spoken word on the Ross through printed booklets, cd's and performance.
Ross of Mull Poets are a collective of eight local writers, with very different backgrounds and style – meeting to share work in progress, or to organise workshops or readings. Several of us are published elsewhere, and we have collaborated on two poetry pamphlets and a CD (Mullings), but we particularly enjoy sharing the spoken word in a lively way, whether in a community hall, the pub or on the beach. Our latest chapbook ‘Edges’, published by Hybrid Press, carries this commendation from Kevin Cadwallender: ‘One of the best writers’ groups in Scotland if not the UK. Divergent, imaginative and inventive with craft and inquisitiveness at their core.’ For current events see Mull&Iona website, Round&About and local posters. Previous projects: Collaboration with Knockvologan Studies: recording our poems on the beach, Arandora Star: memorial event, Knockvologan beach, 10 weeks in Lockdown: daily emailed poems between members, Poems on Uisken Beach: outdoor gathering (2 mtrs apart).
