John Archbold, DA is a contemporary Scottish artist who studied at Glasgow School of Art. He produces works covering a range of subject matter including seascapes, landscapes and townscapes as well as figurative work using oils, watercolours, ink, charcoal and pastels. After retiring from a 37-year career as Principal Teacher of Art and Design at Tobermory High, John became a fulltime artist. Over the years and throughout his teaching career he has continued to develop his own work and exhibit. Since retiring, his current focus is on the fundamental disciplines of drawing and painting in the open air or at his studio or working from his especially adapted studio vehicle with its large windows. This has brought new vitality to his current work which can be seen at his studio/gallery in Lochdon. He works with a range of subject matter, including seascapes, landscapes, townscapes, figure studies and portraiture and uses a variety of mediums.
